Reclaim — Privacy
What Reclaim sends, which is almost nothing, and the three times it uses the network at all.

The short version
Reclaim does not collect anything. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no identifier that follows you. Nothing about your Mac, your files or your scan results is ever sent anywhere.
That is not a promise about intent — it is a property of the build. Three files in the source can make a network request, and they are listed below.
What never leaves your Mac
Your scan results. What Reclaim finds, how big it is and where it lives is computed on your machine and stays there. It is not uploaded, not summarised, not counted.
Your files. Reclaim reads sizes and modification dates. It does not read file contents except to compare two files byte-for-byte when you turn on duplicate detection, and that comparison happens locally.
Full Disk Access. macOS asks for this so Reclaim can measure folders the system protects. It is used for measuring, and for deleting exactly what you tick. Nothing else.
The only three times Reclaim uses the network
1. Announcements. On launch it asks jkuldev.com what it should show you. The request contains the word "reclaim" and the app's version number. Nothing else — not an identifier, not a licence, not a word about your machine.
2. Activating a key. If you paste a licence key, Reclaim sends the key, a device identifier and the name of your Mac to jkuldev.com, once, to register that key to this machine. The device identifier is a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware ID with a Reclaim-specific prefix: the hardware ID itself never leaves the machine, and the same Mac produces a different value for any other purpose. After that one request the key is checked offline, forever. Removing the key sends one more request to release it.
3. Connecting Gossip. If you choose to connect a Gossip account, Reclaim talks to Gossip's servers to complete the device link, in the same way as linking any other device. Nothing about your disk is included.
If you never paste a key and never connect an account, the only request Reclaim ever makes is the first one.
What is stored on your Mac
In ~/Library/Application Support/Reclaim: your licence key if you have one, the Gossip link if you made one, and a small file recording which announcements you have already seen. The Gossip link file is readable only by you. Delete the folder and Reclaim forgets all of it.
No account, no profile
There is no sign-up, no password and no user record. A key is a signed file you hold; it is not an account with us.
Children
Reclaim is a maintenance tool for a computer's owner. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
A new version of this policy arrives with a new version of the app. The current text is always the one inside the copy you are running, and it is published at https://jkuldev.com/legal/reclaim-privacy.
